Ignatieff Smacks Down Day

When the then-Liberal government began belatedly, timidly asking for Arar's release from his Syrian torture chamber in the fall of 2002, opposition leader Stephen Harper was dismissive. The Liberals, he claimed, were "hitting the snooze button on security matters". His colleague, Stockwell Day, even argued the government's "lack of vigilance" had allowed a notorious terrorist like Arar to avoid detection and detention in the first place. [source]

"I have in my possession a letter from the former Commissioner dated November 2, in which he notes his intention to clarify his initial testimony," said Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion today. "Given that the Prime Minister's national security advisor must have known about these inaccuracies, why did the Minister of Public Safety tell Canadians on Monday (Dec 4) that the commissioner ‘still has the confidence of the government’?"

Today, in Question Period, Stockwell Day had this to say:

"Why these folks across the way refused to deal with it then and let an innocent man languish in prison?"

Ignatieff's response was smack on.

"This government, when it is in a tight position, has become accustomed to blaming the previous government."

"You are the government now. When are you going to start to act like one and take responsibility?

He's wonderful in the house, I'm glad to see him in the front benches and I hope he is given a strong portfolio.

That isn't an answer, that's an evasion of the question (from Mr Torture)

Liberals appointed Zac,
Liberal Ministers/Gov were responsible, (but so was MSM)
Just like Adscam, they all knew NOTHING!

“When the then-Liberal government began belatedly, timidly asking for Arar's release from his Syrian torture chamber in the fall of 2002, opposition leader Stephen Harper was dismissive. “

I’m sure that with the information given the opposition government concerning Arar [not revealed until this year] that he was considered a terrorist. The LIEberal government were probably lied to by their sources also. Yet you do not take this into account.

The FACT remains – the LIEberals were responsible and should have acted “aggressively” if they truly were concerned, then he would have been freed earlier. In fact he would have been returned to Canada if the LIEberals thought he was no threat.

“Today, in Question Period, Stockwell Day had this to say: ”Why these folks across the way refused to deal with it then and let an innocent man languish in prison?"”

This is the truest statement made by Day. The LIEberals did REFUSE to deal with it. Why can’t the LIEberals acknowledge mistakes? It appears that the LIEberals had a “god” attitude when they are in power.

Example is the AD-scam – where, through an elaborate scheme were able to have money come back into their coffers. As I remember, the LIEberals paid back a pittance just before calling the election [was this an admittance of guilt] hoping that the Canadian voters would forgive them.

”Ignatieff's response was smack on. "This government, when it is in a tight position, has become accustomed to blaming the previous government."”

What’s wrong? Can’t handle the truth. Remember for over ten years, under two prim ministers, the LIEberals were not accountable for anything, and now blame the present government for their mistakes. In fact who was the minister of the environment – that did nothing – that’s right your present leader Dion. And now he wants to make this an election platform? One just has to look at his record to show that he would be committing “political suicide”

Check out the following blog if you still think the LIEberals are accountable:

Stephane Dion administered one of the worst environmental records in the world

That’s right, they are in power now – something you seem to forget. That is what they are attempting to do, but first they must correct the mistakes of the LIEberals mismanagement. Typical LIEberal, let the present government fix LIEberal mistakes, and then complain.
